1001 Things To Be Happy About!

Be Resileient!    Celebrate Life!

Rebecca is a

mother, sister, wife,

problem solver,

writer,

and daughter of God.

I have lived all over the world, owned and run a variety of businesses, created and taught several classes on everything from Spies to Time Travel, written books and articles, homeschooled my children, and learned to laugh when the other option is… well, not laughing!

I love learning, solving challenging problems, creating new things, and going new places. Most of all, I loves my family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Join me as we explore the joys of life, the quirkiness of being human, and the things that make us laugh and fall in love all over again.

The Joy of Failure!

Today I want to celebrate failure! I don't mean like Calvin.  I do love Calvin and Hobbes, but this isn't quite what I'm talking about. A while ago I read the transcript of JK Rowling's commencement address at Harvard in which she said,      ...

Boot Camp

Several weeks ago I applied to a Writer's Boot Camp- and was rejected. As part of the application process, they asked what college-level writing classes I've taken, and I answered that I've made up my own from the books I've studied.  They asked how many times...

Shifting the Universe

I have been running like an insane person lately.  (Perhaps this says something about me?) I have had busy times in my life before.  But for me, working, going to school, being a single mom, homeschooling, painting sets, closing on a house and new legal...

Summer Books to Love

Summer is coming! This fact alone is enough to make me happy.  But add to it the great books I can read this summer, and I'm about to do backflips!  (except that I have no idea how. But that doesn't mean I don't want to!) I've been asked to teach a class...

How I Should Have Known

I'm in a position to begin dating again, if I chose.  (AAUUGGHH!!!  Gasp.  Cough.  Try to breathe.) But I'm not dating.  (woah! huge understatement!  I don't even want to THINK about it.)   Self talk-- calm down, Rebecca.  It's...

Saving Your Sanity

Does life ever get a little too crazy? You know, those weeks when the dinner you eat in the car consists of a half-eaten candy bar your daughter found in the glove box, shared among all four of you. When you tell your son to grab socks from the dirty laundry hamper...

The Road to Hell– or Not.

You know the saying- "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Painting by R. Kent Crookston (not a painting of the road to hell) The idea is that it's not what you think about doing that counts, it's what you actually do. This theory purports that when I...

From the Inside Out

A while ago I posted about having a Change of Heart and what it takes to forgive. I've been thinking more about it, and I think there may be steps for forgiving, similar to (but not the same as) the steps to repentance. At least for me. Being hurt or abused has a...

The Most Important Job

I know she's apologized, but Hilary Rosen's statement about Ann Romney never having worked a day in her life is something I need to comment on. We have 6 children, including our youngest 2 who were adopted from Ukraine. I've lived with the results of children being...
